Chains of Darkness - Author NotesI was not planning on ever writing a story about Skardal. He was created as a minor character to give "Still Waters" a more realistic feel--no person is nameless in real life. Skardal only had one purpose in the beginning, and that was to be Arrashan's swordmaster. I did not expect to do anything more with his character once I finished with that time in Arrashan's life.However, I've discovered that things rarely ever go as planned. Skardal started developing a personality, and it was different in many respects to the original concept I had of him. Because of this he is just as much a main character as Arrashan is, and to be truthful, I like him a bit more than I like 'Shan. Skardal whines less. Because this story is old (it was written sometime in 2001/2002) there are several inaccuracies I need to fix. I've shuffled the timeline and setting around a bit, plus I hope my writing has improved. Still, I'm happy with the descriptions I've used, and with the pacing.
